Statement of Ethics and Confidentiality:
I am committed to upholding a high ethical standard in my work with you. I recognize the inherent dignity of each human being and continue to educate myself and endeavor to uncover and remedy any conscious or unconscious biases around race, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, nationality, disability, mental health, age and more. I will pursue continued and ongoing development of my professional skills.
I will endeavor to be conscious of any conflict or potential conflict of interest, openly disclose any such conflict, and offer to remove myself when a conflict arises.
Example: if I have a personal relationship with a family member of a potential client.
I agree to have a clear coaching agreement with you (and parents/guardians, if applicable) before beginning the coaching relationship and to honor this agreement. You have the right to terminate the coaching relationship at any point during the process, subject to the specifics of our agreement. I will encourage you (and parent/guardian) to make a change if I believe you would be better served by another resource or professional.
Example: if in the course of our work together, I believe that your needs exceed my professional skills and role.
I will have a clear agreement about how coaching information will be exchanged between us (and parent/guardian, if applicable) and to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality with all client information unless release is required by law. My priority is the confidentiality of my clients, including minors, so I ask parents/guardians to respect the privacy of youth as much as possible.
Note: Under Oregon law, I am required to make a report if a minor discloses any of the following: intention to harm self in a life-threatening manner, intention to harm another, known or suspected physical or sexual abuse or neglect.
I will maintain, store and dispose of any records, including electronic files and communications, created during coaching in a manner that promotes confidentiality, security and privacy, and complies with any applicable laws and agreements.
